Area of SpecialtyAmy is a seasoned child and adolescent therapist who attributes her success in this area to her skilled training, extensive work experience and her own life knowledge as a parent to two daughters. EducationAmy received her graduate degree and specialization in child therapy from the University of North Texas, whose acclaimed graduate counseling program is widely recognized as one of the top 20 in the nation and first in the state of Texas, according to U.S. News and World Report. To become a Licensed Professional Counselor, Amy attained a master's degree in counseling, and she completed more than 2,000 hours of supervised practice before passing the Texas State Board of Examiners of Licensed Professional Counselors exam in 1995. She received her designation as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor after completing an additional 150 hours of play therapy instruction and undergoing 500 hours of supervised play therapy sessions. Amy continues to participate in ongoing peer and supervisory consultation groups. ExperienceCurrently, Amy has 15 years of experience counseling children, adolescents and their parents.
PersonalA native of McKinney, Texas, Amy is happily married with two young adult daughters. She considers the greatest accomplishment in her life her family and the relationship she has with them. She is passionate about relationships, both personally and professionally. Committed would be one word to sum Amy up, be it to family, friends or her profession. She is a hands on wife, mother, daughter and friend. She is a lover of music, particularly sacred music. You might run into her in a yoga class or on the tennis court. What else makes Amy tick?
